Moscow, 15 September Dear Sir!
Avgust Rudolfovich! I am extremely distressed that as a consequence of your departure for Reval I was unable to make your acquaintance in person and talk with you in Petersburg. Since, for so many reasons, it is inconvenient for me to pose those questions in writing, to which I should like to receive verbal, and moreover, very detailed answers — then I prefer to postpone the pleasure of talking with you until my next visit to Petersburg], which should take place shortly [1]. I humbly ask you to give your father [2] my apologies for unwittingly disturbing him, and and ask you to be assured of the sincere feelings of respect from your humble servant, P. Tchaikovsky |
