I have the honour to transmit herewith a draft title page for the collection of 12 romances composed by me, and the dedication of which to the Sovereign Empress, according to her Imperial Majesty's most gracious pleasure, which I respectfully request your excellency to authorise with your signature in the position indicated on the form herewith. I consider it my duty to explain that since not all these romances have yet been engraved, then I cannot, according to the promise I made during my meeting with your excellency, send you a proof impression of the romances. Humbly requesting your excellency to accept the assurance of my profound respect, I have the honour to be your humble servant, P. Tchaikovsky |
