I hae received your letter. Therefore, when I am in Petersburg, I shall discuss what you have written in the letter with the Directorate. Perhaps we can arrange for you to visit Russia? I would like this very much.

You ask when the concerto will be ready? It is altogether ready in draft, but I shall orchestrate it in the autumn. Probably I'll either send it to you, or we'll meet in Frankfurt and discuss it there. In any case, I don't want to rush. It seems to me that it hasn't come out  badly as music — but it's a little ungrateful. If this is Taneyev's opinion, then perhaps I'll destroy it outright. But by God, Sasha, the symphony is a fine one! I'm now orchestrating the 3rd movement (scherzo-march), and will have it finished in 3 days, and the finale is a short one, so it will all be ready in a week, God willing! I'll have to make the arrangement for 4 hands myself.

I hope, golubchik, that you are not upset that I did not fully approve of your changes to the 2nd Concerto.

I hug you! I kiss Vera's hands.

My dear Sasha!

After that I shall submit it to the harshest criticism from pianists, starting with Taneyev! I should like to show it to you sometime before I send it off for printing.

Yours, P. Tchaikovsky
