Town of Klin 5 April 1893 Dear Ilya Ilyich!
Thank you for the kind, friendly lines [1]. I am glad that I left a good impression in Kharkov. As for me, I remember vividly and with great pleasure the days I spent with you, and will be very glad to visit Kharkov again. Even the suffering, brought on by those official lunches and speeches, is forgotten now. I remember only the pleasant moments, of which there were many. I spent the holidays very nicely in Petersburg with relatives. I returned today and am going to take up composition of a whole series of small pieces [2]. Bow to the most amiable Serafima Vasilyevna and also to most respected Ilya Ilyich (the younger), the robber [3], Anna Nikolayevna and all friends and acquaintances. Your sincerely affectionate, P. Tchaikovsky Golubchik, I should like, if my photographs have come out well, to receive a few copies. Then I will order a few dozen from him, because I'm in terrible need of photographs. I've promised a whole pile, and the last ones from Petersburg didn't come out well. |
