Most respected Semyon Nikolayevich!
I shall certainly write a little piece or romance [1], and it will be with the editor no later than 15th August, but I cannot vouch for its quality, because I am terribly worn out from urgent work (scoring a ballet). I urge you to take on the proofreading yourself. Once more I repeat my firm promise to deliver the manuscript in time and, having wished you all the very best, I remain your sincerely respectful, P. Tchaikovsky |
Notes and References
- ↑ Tchaikovsky was replying to a letter from Semyon Kruglikov (which has not survived), asking him to supply a short piece for the journal Artist, of which Kruglikov was the editor of the music section. The composer provided them with the piano piece Valse-Scherzo in A major, which was published in the September 1889 edition of Artist.
