Russian poet and translator (b. 31 December 1808/12 January 1809 in Memel; d. 26 December 1878/7 January 1879 in Saint Petersburg), born Aleksandr Nikolayevich Strugovshchikov (Александр Николаевич Струговщиков).

Tchaikovsky's Settings of Works by Strugovshchikov

Tchaikovsky's song Do Not Ask (Не спрашивай), No. 3 of the Six Romances, Op. 57, is a setting of Strugovshchikov's 1845 translation of the poem Heiß mich nicht reden, in book 3 of the German novel Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre (1795) by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832).
