Konotop (Конотоп) is a city and the administrative centre of the Konotop district (Конотопський район) in the Sumy oblast (Сумська область) of Ukraine.

During Tchaikovsky's lifetime it was the principal city of the Konotop district (Конотопский уезд) of Chernigov province (Черниговская губерния) in the Russian Empire.
