Batasha golubushka!

My journey so far has been very pleasant. I spent 2 days in Taganrog; I liked this city. Moving through the Caucasus is suprisingly interesting, astonishing, and rich in manifold strong impressions. I find Tiflis itself also remarkably sympathetic. The apricot and almond trees are all in bloom, the acacias are starting to turn green, and the chestnuts too. The location of the city, its dazzling European streets and, by contrast, the native ones — all of this amazes and delights me. Anatoly and Panya-dear are thriving, but in particular it's little Tatusya who makes a particularly comforting impression; she is well and has blossomed astonishingly, thanks to the wonderful climate, and the opportunity to always be in the fresh air.

I have met and renewed my acquaintance with the local musical bigwigs: Ippolitov-Ivanov, Korganov, etc. Yesterday I was at a symphony concert of the Musical Society. The orchestra is small and poor; the conductor is adequate, the audience is very small, and the general impression is miserable. But they have 230 people in their classes, and business is thriving.

Batasha-dear! Write to me what the college secretary has decided to do with me? Did they agree to postpone it for six months? Also write me a word or two about how you are, and what your red-nosed Tonichka is doing? I kiss your hand. Panya and Tanya send their awfully best regards

Yours, P. Tchaikovsky

They have a magnificent apartment, a fair palace.
