Moscow 27 January 1876 Most respected Eduard Frantsevich!
I didn't see you on the evening of the concert, and couldn't manage to call on you the next day. Yet since my soul bears a burden of gratitude to you for conducting my symphony so superbly, then I consider it my moral duty to express this in writing. I very, very much appreciate the consideration you afforded my work, both in rehearsals and at the concert itself. With all my heart I thank you and shake your hand [1]. Yours P. Tchaikovsky |
