Прости, ради Бога, что опять прибегаю к тебе с просьбой. Потрудись, пожалуйста, послать одного из твоих приказчиков или к ''Соловьёву'' или, ещё лучше, к ''Рассохину'' (на Волхонке) и вели ему купить там полное собрание театральных сочинений ''Ленского'', которые изданы под общим заглавием: «''Театр Ленского''». Затем книгу сию потрудись прислать по известному тебе адресу (''Киевск[ой] губ[ернии], Черк[асского] уезда мест[ечко] Смелу, оттуда в Кам[енку]''). Цену же этой книги припиши к долгам моим.
Милый Толяша! Очередь писать мне сегодня к Моде, но так как я не знаю его адреса (т. е. забыл, в чьём доме Тётя Лиза) та пишу тебе.
 
Пишу тебе наскоро и потому не распространяюсь.
 
Если ты уже заказал заглавный лист к ''вальсу-скерцо'', то поставлено ли там посвящение: ''Иосифу Иосифовичу Котеку''? это совершенно необходимо. Что касается концерта, то я хочу его посвятить ''Ауэру'', — но, впрочем, об этом ещё поговорим.


Надеюсь, что последнее моё письмо с просьбой переслать 100 р[ублей] А[нтонине] И[вановне] ты получил?
Заключение твоего письма, где ты говоришь, что надеешься получить хоть одно известие да моего отъезда, меня очень удивило! Неужели ты думаешь, что я без тебя поеду к Саше? Ты, кажется, знаешь, что я тебя люблю более кого-либо, и если я прежде мог проводить два лета сряду без тебя, то, во-первых, я всегда по тебе скучал, а во-вторых, мы тогда круглый год жили более или менее вместе. Итак, о моей особе не сокрушайся; если ты останешься в Петербурге, то и я проведу его там же, до я уже теперь почти решил, что не поеду, жду только положительного извещения о Вас, т. е. едете Вы или нет?

For God's sake forgive me for imposing another request on you. Please kindly send one of your assistants, either to ''Solovyov'' or, better still, to ''Rassokhin'' (on Volkhonka) and instruct him to buy there a complete collection of theatrical works by ''Lensky'', which are published under the title "''Lensky's Theatre''". Then kindly wrap the book and send it to an address that will be familiar to you (''[[Kiev]] province, Cherkassky district, township of Smela, thence to [[Kamenka]]''). Put the cost of this book on my account.


I'm writing this in haste, and therefore not in depth.

Dear [[Anatoly Tchaikovsky|Tolyasha]]! It's my turn to write to [[Modya]] today, but as I don't know his address (i.e. I've forgotten what Aunt Liza's house is called), I'm writing to you.  


If you've already organised the title page to the ''[[Valse-Scherzo, Op. 34|waltz-scherzo]]'', then could you inscribe the dedication: ''To Iosif Iosifovich Kotek''? This is absolutely necessary. So far as the [[Violin Concerto|concerto]] is concerned, then I want to dedicate it to ''[[Auer]]'', although this still has to be discussed.
The conclusion of your letter, where you say that you hoped to receive at least one piece of news about my leaving, surprised me very much! Do you really think I would go to [[Sasha]]'s without you? You must know that I love you more than anyone, and if I spent two summers in a row without you before, then firstly, I always missed you, and secondly we lived then more or less together all year round. So don't be upset on my account; if you're staying in [[Petersburg]] then I'll spend it there, but I've now almost made up my mind not to go, and I'm only waiting for firm news from you, i.e. are you going or not?


I hope that you received my last letter with a request to send 100 rubles to [[Antonina Ivanovna]]?
The weather in [[Moscow]] now is astounding, and my mood has greatly improved because of it; I spend whole evenings sitting by myself in the Aleksandrovsky Gardens by the Kremlin. On Sunday (1st May, on which I congratulate you), I was at the most magnificent festival you can imagine, in the Sokolniki; I went there in a carriage with Madame Nilus. Today the Tarnovskys had a dinner for their son's birthday, and I drank a lot of champagne, which this time made me terribly sleepy. Whereupon, I kiss you, until we meet. I hope that Schneider's pedantry didn't dishearten you, and that you did well in the next examination.
