Servant of the composer (b. 1848 in Klin; d. 1932), born Mikhail Ivanovich Sofronov (Михаил Иванович Софронов).
Formerly a servant to Ferdinand Laub (a colleague of the composer's at the Moscow Conservatory), Mikhail Sofronov became Tchaikovsky's servant in 1871, later sharing these duties with his younger brother Aleksey (1859–1925). After Tchaikovsky's marriage in 1877, only Aleksey was kept on, and Mikhail left the composer's service.
