Sofya Maslova

Sister of Tchaikovsky's schoolfriend Fyodor Maslov (b. 1846; d. 1902), born Sofya Ivanovna Maslova (Софья Ивановна Маслова).
Sofya loved music, literature, and Nature, but she suffered from poor health throughout her life. She was very attached to her nephew (Fyodor Maslov's son), who was born with a disability.
Correspondence with Tchaikovsky
2 letters from Tchaikovsky to Sofya Maslova have survived, dating from 1882 and 1891, both of which have been translated into English on this website:
- Letter 2074 – 10/22 August 1882, from Moscow (addressed jointly to Sofya and Fyodor Maslov, Anna Maslova and Varvara Maslova)
- Letter 4560 – 19 November/1 December 1891, from Maydanovo (addressed jointly to Sofya and her sisters Anna Maslova and Varvara Maslova)
One letter from Sofya Maslova to Tchaikovsky, dating from 1879, is preserved in the Tchaikovsky State Memorial Musical Museum-Reserve at Klin.
