Russian chemical engineer (b. 15/27 April 1841; d. 22 May/4 June 1900), born Yakov Fyodorovich Gartung (Яков Фёдорович Гартунг); also known outside Russia as Jacob Hartung.
Gartung was the uncle by marriage to Tchaikovsky's sister-in-law Praskovya.
