English poet and politician (b. 22 January 1788 [N.S.] in London; d. 19 April 1824 [N.S.] at Messolonghi), born George Gordon Byron , later known as George Gordon Noel or simply Lord Byron.

In 1885, Tchaikovsky wrote his Manfred Symphony, Op. 58 on the subject of Byron's Manfred: A Dramatic Poem (1817).
