Maydanovo village 14 June 1891 Dear Borya!
I think I was supposed to do some proofs, not for you, but for Kostko, but I've forgotten his name and patronymic, and so I'm reluctant to write to him. Could you pass on the following to him. Tomorrow morning I'm sending:
Since it turns out that the arrangement was not done according to my requirements, consequently I have not only corrected errors in the "Prologue", but I've re-done many places, and new plates will be required — so to save time and materials I ask you to suspend the engraving of the 4 hand arrangement of "The Sleeping Beauty". If anything from the 3rd and 4th acts has already been engraved, then there's nothing to be done, and let them run off the proofs and send them to Ziloti for correction. I ask you to send the rest of the manuscript to A. I. Ziloti, whom I've written to, and he knows what has to be done. Golubchik, reply to me if my instructions are clear, and also the answers to the following 2 questions:
I embrace you! P. Tchaikovsky P. S. Pyotr Ivanovich is asking me to review the full score of "Yevgeny Onegin", which Khristoforov is sending from the music office. Where is it? Find it and send it to me Borya, dear fellow, have the new French opera "Le Rêve", composed by Mr Bruneau, sent to me from Paris. It's terribly interesting to me |
