Russian cellist and writer (b. 21 June/3 July 1871 in Moscow; d. 1 February 1958 in Kremlin-Bicêtre, near Paris), born Yulian Ignatyevich Poplavsky (Юлиан Игнатьевич Поплавский).
In the early 1890s, Poplavsky studied the cello at the Moscow Conservatory under Alfred von Glenn. He was a guest at the composer's home shortly before his death in October 1893, and subsequently wrote an account of "Tchaikovsky's Last Days at Klin".
