Милый друг! Тороплюсь написать тебе несколько слов. Вчера был у Направника, и вот результат наших разговоров: 1) Необходимо до напечатания представить в дирекцию писанный клавираусцуг. Поэтому потрудись велеть сделать копию и послать её Направнику. 2) Время исполнения сюиты зависит от того, когда ты пришлёшь её, — но особенно торопиться не нужно, ибо раз что она не попала в программу первого концерта, на котором хотели её играть, — все равно через неделю, две или 3 она будет готова. 3) Партитуру «Девы» чем раньше пришлёшь, тем лучше. Я ему сказал, что 3 и 4 акты будут скоро высланы. 4) Направнику ужасно хочется печататься у тебя. Об этом я напишу тебе особенно завтра. Обнимаю тебя. Твой, П. Чайковский 5) Из «Евгения Онегина» я позволил ему исполнить вальс и какие угодно вокальные нумера, но полонез запретил. Итак, пошли ему все, что он просит, кроме полонеза.

Dear friend! I'm hurrying to write you a few words. I was with Nápravník yesterday, and here is the outcome of our discussions: 1) It's necessary to submit the handwritten piano reduction to the directorate before printing. Therefore kindly arrange to have a copy made and sent to Nápravník. 2) The date of performance of the suite depends upon when you send it — but there's no particular need to hurry, because it won't now be included in the programme for the first concert, where they'd wanted to play it, so it's all the same as to whether it's ready in one, two or three weeks. 3) The sooner you send the full score of «The Maid», the better. I told him that Acts 3 and 4 would be sent shortly. 4) Nápravník is awfully keen for you to be his publisher. I'll write to you about this specifically tomorrow. I embrace you. Yours, P.
