КоляОля, КоляОля, КоляОля, КоляОля КоляОля, КоляОля, КоляОля ... ... !!! Очень рад был Кокошиному письму. Поручение относительно подарка Саше и Леве будет своевременно исполнено. У нас здесь относительно здоровья всё благополучно, но есть несколько второстепенных неблагополучий, из коих одно случилось сегодня утром. Об нем скажу после. Толя и Паня были очень огорчены и обижены отказом Васи ехать с ними, а потом этот Вася поступил к Кондратьеву; так что они теперь поменялись. Кондратьевский Митя перешёл к ним и едет на Кавказ, а их Вася служит у Кондратьева. Паню это ужасно сердит, и даже по поводу этого она и на меня немного дулась. Но это пустяки. А то, что случилось сегодня, в самом деле возмутительно. Горничная Маша должна была уехать сегодня в деревню, дабы перед отъездом на Кавказ побывать у родных и испросить у них разрешения на поездку и на замужество за Степана, сделавшего ей формальное предложение. Вчера няня заметила, что Маша укладывала какие-то детские рубашечки, которые ей показались Таниными. Она сообщила об этом Пане. Сегодня сделали перед отъездом обыск и нашли целую массу вещей: кружева, батистовые платки, брошь с жемчугами, золотая цепь и тысяча других вещей. Воровка задержана. Толя в Москве, и Паня ждёт его, чтобы решить дело. Бедная Паня страшно огорчена. Переслени гостит у нас постоянно. Кондратьев по-прежнему заходит; по вечерам у нас бывает винт. Жара стоит нестерпимая. Вот покамест и всё новости. Целую и обнимаю тебя, милый мой Николай; целую Олины ручки. Всем Денисьевым мой усердный поклон. Мoдест и Паня поручают передать тысячу нежностей. 10 July 1885 Maydanovo village I was very pleased with Kokosha's letter. The instruction concerning the gift for Sasha and Lyova will be carried out in good time. In terms of health, we are all well here, but there have been some minor misfortunes, one of which occurred this morning. I'll tell you about that below. Tolya and Panya were very upset and offended by Vasya's refusal to go with them, and then this Vasya turned up at Kondratyev's; so now they have changed places. Kondratyev's Mitya went over to them and is going to the Caucasus, and their Vasya is now a servant at Kondratyev's. Panya is awfully angry, and she was even a little off about this with me. Anyway, this is unimportant. But what happened today is actually outrageous. The maid Masha should have left for the country today in order to visit her relatives before leaving for the Caucasus, and to ask them for permission to travel and marry Stepan, who made a formal proposal to her. Yesterday the nanny noticed that Masha was packing away some children's shirts, which she supposed were Tanya's. She reported this to Panya. Today a search was made before she left, and a whole mass of things was found: lace, cambric scarves, a brooch with pearls, a gold chain, and a thousand other things. The thief was detained. Tolya is Moscow and Panya is waiting for him to resolve the matter. Poor Panya is terribly upset. Peresleni continues to stay with us. Kondratyev still keeps turning up; we have vint in the evenings. The heat is intolerable. That's all the news for now. I kiss and hug you, my dear Nikolay; I kiss Olya's hands.
