Golubushka, Sofya Ivanovna

I'm sending you the end of the 4th act. You need to attend to the following: 1) Before anything else the piano reduction is to be engraved. 2) The choral parts are required; for God's sake don't forget this. I hope that the 1st and 2nd acts (choral parts) are already engraved. As regards the 4th act (the 3rd doesn't have a chorus), would it not be possible to save time by not sending them to Langer [1] beforehand, and to engrave the choral parts directly from the manuscript. Some, if not all of the experienced engravers could do this, for example, Aleksey Fyodorov. Otherwise it may be some time until the piano reduction is engraved, until the manuscript is released, until it's sent to Langer, until he copies it, etc.

For God's sake, ask the engravers to work even on Saturday at Shrovetide. I will pay them well for this

I'll come next week, on Thursday morning, directly to yours and stay for 4 days, during which I'll be busy with the proofs.

I'm out of my mind from fatigue, and my head is constantly throbbing. Lord! Why must I be continually exhausted?... And yet, to complain is a sin. Praise God that he who hurries knows the importance of time!...

I kiss your hands.

P. Tchaikovsky
