22 августа 1888 г[ода] Москва Голубчик Толя! Я здесь проездом; завтра еду в Каменку. Очень грустно было расставаться с Фроловским, ибо в последнее время стояла божественная погода. Модест провёл у меня всего 3 дня; он торопился в Петербург, куда его звал усиленно Коля. Как ты думаешь, чем я в последнее время был занят? Инструментовкой увертюры Лароша. Я уже давно обещал это сделать и теперь пришлось исполнить обещание. Они прожили у меня ровно месяц, и общество их было мне приятно. Сюда приехал третьего дня вечером с ними и с Димой, который тоже гостил у меня. Вчера целый день провёл с г. Цетом (мой концертный агент), приезжавшим для переговоров со мной. 18-го сентября будет в Петербурге концеpт-monstre, в пользу каких-то пострадавших от наводнения шведов, и я обещал дирижировать. 5-го ноября, там же, будет мой собственный концерт. Попаду ли я к Вам? Уж как бы хотелось? Дошло ли моё письмо до Пани! Я адресовал в Тионеты, но говорят, что почта туда не ходит! Пиши мне во Фроловское; около 1-го сентября уже буду дома. 22 August 1888 Moscow Golubchik Tolya! I'm passing through here; tomorrow I'm going to Kamenka. Leaving Frolovskoye was very sad, because lately the weather had been heavenly. Modest stayed with me for 3 whole days; he's dashed off to Petersburg, where he's calling on Kolya. Do you know what I've been up to recently? Orchestrating Laroche's overture. I promised to do this ages ago and now I've had the opportunity to fulfil my promise. They stayed with me for exactly a month, and their company was agreeable. I came here three evenings ago with them and Dima, who was also staying with me. Today I spent the whole day with Mr Zet (my concert agent), who came over for discussions with me. On 18th September there will be a concert-monstre in Petersburg, in aid of some people affected by the Swedish floods, and I've promised to conduct . My own concert will be on 5th November, also there. Will I see you? Oh how I wish I could! Did my letter reach Panya? I addressed it to Tiunety, but they say that the post doesn't go there! Write to me at Frolovskoye; I'll be home around 1st September. Poor Hubert is very ill; he has some sort of typhus. I kiss and hug you tightly. Yours, P. Tchaikovsky
