Владимир Петрович! Я прочёл вчера в «Новом времени», что постановка балета «Спящая красавица» отлагается до сезона 1890–1891 г[оды]. Известие это имеет для меня огромную важность. Если оно справедливо, то я могу без особенной спешности приступить по приезде в деревню к инструментовке балета. Если же несправедливо, — то, не теряя ни мгновения, должен засесть за работу и дорожить каждой минутой. Итак, добрейший Владимир Петрович, потрудитесь мне сообщить (в Клин, Моск[овской] губ[ернии]), верить ли газетному слуху?. Про своё путешествие ничего Вам не пишу, ибо в течение мая буду в Петербурге, вероятно около 25 числа, и надеюсь повидать Вас. Я очень доволен своей поездкой, но очень утомлён. Теперь, впрочем, уже успел отдышаться и чувствую большое удовольствие при мысли, что в очень скором времени буду у себя, в деревне, и примусь за работу. До свидания, добрейший Владимир Петрович! 26 April 1889 City of Tiflis Most respected and most kind
Vladimir Petrovich! I read yesterday in the "New Time" that the production of the ballet "The Sleeping Beauty is being deferred until the 1890/91 season [1]. This news has great significance for me. If it is reliable then I can, without undue haste, set about the orchestration of the ballet on my arrival in the country. If it is unreliable — then without a moment to spare I must set to work and every minute is precious. And so, most kind Vladimir Petrovich, kindly inform me (at Klin, Moscow province) whether to believe the newspaper rumour? I am not writing anything about my journey, because during May I will be in Petersburg, probably around the 25th, and hope to see you. I am very satisfied with my tour, but very tired. Now though, having just succeeded in catching my breath, I feel great pleasure at the thought that in very shortly I will be home in the country, and setting to work.
