1) «Иоланту» в 2 руки (лангеровская стряпня);

П. Ч.

My dear chap! So far I still haven't received any manuscript full scores. I've received from you:
1) "Iolanta" for 2 hands (Langer's concoction) [1];
2) The full score of the ballet [2], 71 pages, 1st proofs.

Whereupon I still have outstanding: a) the sextet [3]; b) the suite from the ballet.

And so today I'm expecting a messenger from you with part of the manuscript full scores. Kostko is mistaken, at this moment I don't have a single line from my full scores [4]. Does Kostko think that I'm in Saint Petersburg?

P. T.

Notes and References

  1. Eduard Langer's solo piano arrangement of the opera, which greatly displeased Tchaikovsky (see Letter 4725 to Pyotr Jurgenson, 13/25 July 1892).

  4. Iosif Gaetanovich Kostoko, an employee of Pyotr Jurgenson's publishing house.
