Hochgeehrter Herr Kajanus!

P. Tschaikowsky

Highly respected Herr Kajanus!

I was unable to reply to your telegram [1] because you did not tell me your address. I hope that my brother has not forgotten to tell you that I cannot come to Helsingfors either on 20/8 or 22/10 March. I could certainly come later, after the Easter weekend, but would that not be too late?[2]

Please send me a couple of lines in reply.

Your most devoted,

P. Tchaikovsky

Notes and References

  1. Kajanus's telegram has not survived, but in an earlier letter of 17 February/1 March 1893 he had suggested 8/20 or 10/22 March 1893 as possible dates for Tchaikovsky to conduct a concert in Helsingfors.
  2. Tchaikovsky's intended visit to Helsingfors was postponed until 1894, by which time he was dead.
