Londre 5 Mai [18]93 Redgent Street, 11 Monsieur!
Sir!
I have only just this moment received your too kind letter addressed to Moscow. I do not know how to express my appreciation for the hospitality that you would like to afford me, of which I shall avail myself with the greatest of pleasure. I shall be arriving next Monday and will have the honour of shaking your hand. In the meantime please allow me to express my profound gratitude. Your most devoted, P. Tchaikovsky I beg your pardon for answering in French, but unfortunately I neither speak nor write in English, and am much afraid, dear Sir, that you will find it disagreeable to host a man who does not speak your language. |
