8 May Golubchik, send me "Figaro" in Breitkopf's edition, to resolve Chrysander's questions. I'll be very glad if Pabst undertakes to do the dinamische Bezeichnungen. If you decide to publish the selected pieces, they are as follows:
I started trying to remember everything in order, but, firstly, I cannot, and secondly, they are all so indistinguishable from one another in terms of pianistic merit, that I was suddenly overcome by doubt: wouldn't it be better to confine ourselves to a "gesammelte"? If you absolutely want a selection, then kindly send everything with the exception of the three aforementioned opuses. I don't know where the original score of "The Oprichnik" is, if not at the Petersburg theatre, because I recall that Nápravník conducted from it. I'll be very happy if you acquire it, but if it's in Bessel's clutches, then this will be difficult. However, armed with a power of attorney you can take it by force. Until we meet, golubchik. Yours, P. Tchaikovsky |
