I am now enjoying the idleness and wonderful Indian summer in [[Tiflis]]. I frequently go to the opera, which is rather poor in terms of the ''ensemble'' this season. Tell your ''father'' that the [[Tiflis]] company has a tenor, ''Koshits'', who ought to be of interest to [[Petersburg]]. He has a big, very beautiful voice and an appearance well suited to the stage. Also fine are the baritone ''Sokolov'' and the bass ''Gordiyevsky''. Только что вчера я отправил на почту письмо твоему отцу, как получил твоё милейшее послание. Гнев мой, конечно, мгновенно потух, но, впрочем, никакого гнева и не было, ибо, будучи сам страшно ленив на письма, я никогда серьёзно не сержусь на других за эпистолярную лень. Радуюсь, что «Пиковая дама» тебе нравится, и желаю, чтобы все разделили твоё сочувствие к моему последнему детищу. Наслаждаюсь теперь праздностью и чудным бабьим летом Тифлиса. Часто бываю в опере, которая здесь в отношении ансамбля в нынешнем сезоне плоховата. Скажи папе, что в тифлисской труппе есть тенор Кошиц, на которого Петербургу следует обратить внимание. I am glad that you like "The Queen of Spades" and I wish that everyone would share your sympathy for my latest offspring. I am now enjoying the idleness and wonderful Indian summer in Tiflis. I frequently go to the opera, which is rather poor in terms of the ensemble this season. Tell your father that the Tiflis company has a tenor, Koshits, who ought to be of interest to Petersburg. He has a big, very beautiful voice and an appearance well suited to the stage. Also fine are the baritone Sokolov and the bass Gordiyevsky. I heartily recommend them to the Directorate.
