2 November 1889 Dear Yelizaveta Andreyevna!
You will be receiving an official invitation from the Committee to participate in the 2nd jubilee concert on the 19th inst. You are requested to sing Rubinstein's "Rusalka" with a chorus of students from the Conservatory, as well as some duets with Iretskaya [1]. I hope you will not refuse. But besides your participation in the concert, you will be required to sing "Rusalka" at least twice at rehearsals, so you will need to come for 4 days prior to the jubilee (because rehearsals cannot take place on the 18th). Give all this some thought, and we will discuss the details when we meet next week in Moscow, where I'll be from the morning of the 10th. I kiss your hands. Yours, P. Tchaikovsky Excuse my awful writing, I am in a great rush. |
