Извините, Надежда Филаретовна, что ответ мой будет столь краток. Ваш посланный застал меня в гостях. Благодарю Вас от всего сердце за милое письмо и за щедрое вложение, в нем заключающееся. Завтра я уезжаю на две недели к сестре в Киевскую губернию. Желаю Вам приятно провести праздники.

Forgive me, Nadezhda Filaretovna, that my reply will be so short. Your messenger has found me with visitors. I thank you with all my heart for the kind letter [1], and for the generous sum which was enclosed. Tomorrow I am leaving for two weeks with my sister in Kiev province [2]. I wish you a pleasant holiday [3].
