12 February

I'm very sorry, Modinka, that you and the boys didn't come. The weather is wonderful, and everything would surely have been very pleasant. However, I'm little opportunity to appreciate the weather, because I'm working so much that I'm having headaches every day and can't think about anything other than: will it be finished, will it be a success, Lord how much more there is to do, etc., etc. [1]. The issue of the Philharmonic Society concert, which I'm conducting, is settled. I'm coming, God willing, on Monday in the 2nd week in Lent and be staying with you for 2 weeks. The concert is fixed for 5 March. Of course I'm dreading it, but at the same time I terribly want to wave my baton. Not long now until we meet. Forgive me for writing so little. I kiss you

P. Tchaikovsky

I've forgotten Anya's address, i.e. her number, and so I'm entrusting you to forward it [2].
