20 мая [18]87 Дорогая Юлия Петровна! Пишу Вам лишь несколько слов. Сегодня еду в Нижний, оттуда по Волге в Астрахань, морем в Баку и по жел[езной] дор[оге] в Тифлис. Окончивши «Чародейку», я поехал в Петербург, где провёл дней десять при больном, обречённом насмерть друге 2 своём. Приехал сюда совсем здоровый, но в тот же день начал чувствовать лихорадку, которая и теперь не оставляет меня. Все это—нервы. Знаю, что путешествие тотчас же поправит меня, и потому не откладываю отъезда, тем более, что мне хочется попасть на лучший пароход «Александр II», отходящий завтра. Простите, что едва имею время написать Вам эти строки. Дорогой и из Тифлиса буду писать Вам. Адресуйте мне: Тифлис, Окружной суд, А. И. Чайковскому, для передачи П. И. Ч. Будьте здоровы! Ваш, П. 20 May 1887 Dear Yuliya Petrovna! I'm writing only a few words to you. Today I'm going to Nizhny, from there along the Volga to Astrakhan, by sea to Baku and by railway to Tiflis. Having finished off "The Enchantress", I travelled to Petersburg, where I spent ten days with a poor friend of mine who is doomed to die . I came here rather healthily, but on the same day developed a fever, which even now hasn't left me. All this is nerves. I know that the journey will immediately rectify me, and because of this I'm not delaying my departure, all the more so because I want to go on the best steamer "Alexander II", which leaves tomorrow. I'm sorry that I barely have the time to write you these few lines. I'll write to you on the journey and from Tiflis. My address: Tiflis, Circuit Court, to A. I. Tchaikovsky, for forwarding to P. I.
