Прага 22/10 февр[аля] Голубчик Модя! Писать не было, да и нет никакой возможности. Моё пражское пребывание есть целая эпопея. Я думаю, что она отчасти попадёт в газеты, и ты кое-что узнаешь вскоре, если нет, то подожди пока приеду и расскажу. Ничего подобного я и представить себе не мог. Вчера был 2-ой концерт в театре, и после него давался великолепно обставленный 2-ой акт из «Лебединого озера». Мой успех был грандиозный. Во время моего 10-тидневного пребывания здесь я сказал множество речей, а на большом банкете в день первого концерта прочёл большую речь по-чешски. В общем чех и оказались очень симпатичны, и многих из тех, которые постоянно при мне состояли, я ужасно полюбил. Все время со мной был милейший Зилоти, ухаживавший за мной как нянька и много раз спасавший меня от полного изнеможения. Приезжал в Прагу и провёл здесь 5 дней П. И. Юргенсон. Я очень рад был его видеть. Оба они час тому назад уехали, а я еду вечером в Париж. Выразить тебе, до чего я устал, нет возможности; следует удивляться, что я все это выдерживаю без ущерба для здоровья. Было много необычайно приятных минут. Конечно, в России я и помышлять не могу когда-нибудь иметь такой успех, как здесь. С Дворжаком и со всеми здешними композиторами я в дружбе. Вообще нужно сказать, что чехи оказались молодцы, и смелость, с которою они, по поводу моего приезда проявляли свои симпатии к России удивительна. Пиши, пожалуйста, в Париж, 14, Rue Richepanse. Посылаю тебе 3 моих портрета из иллюстраций. Что касается газет, то вот уже 10 дней как они переполнены и послать всего нельзя. Обнимаю. П. Чайковский

Prague 22/10 February Golubchik Modya! I haven't been writing, and indeed there's been no opportunity whatsoever. My visit to Prague is a whole epic. I think that it might partly make it into the newspapers, and you'll find out something soon; if not, then wait until I come and tell you. I could never imagine anything like this. Yesterday there was a 2nd concert at the theatre, and after that they gave a magnificently staged 2nd act from "Swan Lake". My success was grandiose. During my 10-day stay here I gave many speeches, and at a grand banquet on the day of the first concert, I read out a long speech in Czech. In general the Czechs have turned out to be very sympathetic, and I fell in love with many of those who were with me constantly. Dearest Ziloti was with me the whole time, looking after me like a nanny, and saving me many times from complete exhaustion. P. I. Jurgenson came to Prague and spent 5 days here. I was very glad to see him. Both of them left an hour ago, and I'm off to Paris this evening. It's impossible to express to you how tired I am; it ought to be surprising that I can endure all this without my health suffering. There have been so many exceptionally pleasant moments. Of course, I can't even imagine having the same success in Russia as here. I'm friends with Dvořák and all the local composers. In general, it must be said that the Czechs turned out to be fine people, and the courage with which they showed their sympathy for Russia on the occasion of my arrival is astonishing. Write, please, to Paris, 14, Rue Richepanse. I'm sending you 3 of my portraits from illustrations.
