28 марта [18]88 Лёня! Ты меня бранишь, что я сюда поехал, но куда же мне было ехать? Если б ты раньше нанял и устроил новое помещение, другое бы дело. А то ведь мне пришлось бы торчать в Петербурге или в Москве, и какой же это был бы отдых? Нет уж ты не сердись и поверь, что мне, может быть, гораздо больше, чем тебе, хочется, чтобы поскорее началась -наша тихая деревенская жизнь. Я останусь здесь ещё немножко, больше 2 недель, и хочу отсюда поехать морем на Севастополь. На страстной, никак не позже, если, Бог даст, буду жив и здоров, буду в Фроловском. Я очень рад, что ты нанял Фроловское. Устраивай все как можно чище и лучше. Главное, чтобы чисто было. Денег, если хочешь, бери у П. И. Юргенсона. Я ехал сюда из Лондона ровно две недели; в том числе 2 суток провёл в Таганроге у Ипполита. Сюда я приехал третьего дня. Застал всех здоровыми. Квартира у Его превосходительства Анатолия Ильича отличная, главное вид чудный. Слуга у них новый, Матвей. Добрый малый, но какой-то непонятливый. Вчера на Головинском проспекте вечером видел Степана Лаврентьевича и Акулину. Очень просил тебе кланяться. Акулина говорила, что она знает M[ada]me Софронову и что они товарки. Она очень хвалила твою Феклушу. Весьма буду рад познакомиться с этой дамой. Пожалуйста, позаботься, чтобы цветы у нас были. Даю тебе слово, что очень долго безвыездно буду жить в Фроловском. Пожалуйста, не сердись и жди меня на страстной. Целую и обнимаю тебя. Твой П. Чайковский Нельзя ли купить кровать у Надежды Васильевны?

28 March 1888 Lyonya! You scold me for coming here, but where else could I have gone? If you had rented and arranged new accommodation earlier, things would have been different. Otherwise I would have had to loiter around Petersburg or Moscow, and how much of a rest would that have been? I'll be staying here a little longer, more than 2 weeks, and I want to go from here by sea to Sevastopol. Last evening I saw Stepan Lavrentyevich and Akulina on Golovinsky Prospekt. They very much wanted to send you their regards. Akulina said that she knew Madame Sofronova, and that they were friends. She was full of praise for your Fekushla. I'll be very glad to be introduced to this lady. Please, ensure that we have flowers.
