Dear Borya!

I think I was supposed to do some proofs, not for you, but for Kostko, but I've forgotten his name and patronymic, and so I'm reluctant to write to him. Could you pass on the following to him.

Tomorrow morning I'm sending:

1) Proofs of the full score of "The Tempest". As you and he will see, I've made numerous corrections, and another set of proofs is absolutely essential. Therefore, let them be carefully corrected as I have indicated, and send the next, final, proofs to A. I. Ziloti, whom I've forewarned of this.
2) Proofs for the Prologue of "The Sleeping Beauty". The next proofs (but to be corrected very thoroughly) are also to be sent to A. I. Ziloti.
3) I'm sending the first act of "The Sleeping Beauty" directly to Ziloti from here (manuscript and 1st proofs).

Since it turns out that the arrangement was not done according to my requirements, consequently I have not only corrected errors in the "Prologue", but I've re-done many places, and new plates will be required — so to save time and materials I ask you to suspend the engraving of the 4 hand arrangement of "The Sleeping Beauty". If anything from the 3rd and 4th acts has already been engraved, then there's nothing to be done, and let them run off the proofs and send them to Ziloti for correction. I ask you to send the rest of the manuscript to A. I. Ziloti, whom I've written to, and he knows what has to be done.

Golubchik, reply to me if my instructions are clear, and also the answers to the following 2 questions:

I) What is the position with the engraving of the "Voyevoda" dances?
II) What is Kostko's first name and patronymic, and to which of the two of you ought I to write about proofreading?

I embrace you!

P. Tchaikovsky

P. S. Pyotr Ivanovich is asking me to review the full score of "Yevgeny Onegin", which Khristoforov is sending from the music office. Where is it? Find it and send it to me

Borya, dear fellow, have the new French opera "Le Rêve", composed by Mr Bruneau, sent to me from Paris. It's terribly interesting to me
