Посмотрев Ваши сочинения, я пришёл к заключению, что Вы обладаете несомненным музыкальным талантом, который, при благоприятных условиях и правильном развитии, мог бы сделать из Вас полезного и выдающегося музыкального деятеля. Если таково Ваше стремление, то, несмотря на упущенное время, при усиленном рвении, Вы и теперь ещё можете выработать из себя хорошего музыканта, чего я от всей души Вам желаю, предупреждая однако же, что на пути этом встретите немало терниев и что только полное матерьяльное обеспечение даст Вам возможность достигнуть цели без борьбы с крайней нуждой. Having reviewed your compositions , I have come to the conclusion that you possess undoubted musical talent, which, under favourable conditions and if correctly progressed, could turn you into a competent and outstanding musical artist. If this your aspiration, then, lost time notwithstanding, with increased zeal you could still now fashion yourself into a fine musician, as I would wish for you with all my heart, while cautioning, however, that you will encounter many thorns on the way, and that only complete material security will provide you with the opportunity to achieve this aim without struggling with extreme want.
