24 ноября Сегодня еду в Петербург. Если нужно будет что-либо сказать или прислать, адресуй в Гостиницу «Россия». Я тебе посылаю с Алексеем остальную партитуру «Иоланты», которую я кончил. Не знаю, вернулся ли С. И. Танеев? Когда вернётся, то потрудись её доставить ему для дальнейшей работы над клавираусцугом. Никому, кроме Танеева, партитуру не давай ни на секунду. Ах, душа моя, какую печальную обузу я взял на себя. Вдова Н. Ф. Христиановича, согласно с его желанием, отдала мне на просмотр огромную, в несколько пудов массу оставленных им рукописей на просмотр! Она надеется иметь возможность издать то, что я признаю стоящим. Но нет ли напечатанных его произведений? Быть может, я напрасно тружусь, решаю, печатать или не печатать, — а они уже давно изданы. Просвети меня на этот счёт! Засим будь здоров. До свиданья! Твой, П. Чайковский Останусь в Петербурге (вместе с поездкой в твой родной город, столицу килек) всего дней 10. |
24 November Today I'm going to Petersburg. If you need to tell or send me anything, address it to the "Russia" Hotel [1]. I'll send Aleksey to you with the rest of the full score of "Iolanta", which I've finished with. I don't know if S. I. Taneyev is back? After his return, kindly send it to him for further work on the piano reduction. Do not give it to anyone else besides Taneyev, even for a second. Ah, my dear chap, what a pitiful burden I've taken upon myself. N. F. Khristoforov's [2] widow, in accordance with his wishes, has left me an enormous weighty pile [3] of his manuscripts to review! She hopes to have the opportunity to publish those I consider worthy. But have any of his works appeared in print? Perhaps I am wasting effort, deciding what to print or not to print, if they've already been published long ago. Enlighten me in this respect! And with that, keep well. Until we meet! Yours, P.
