Карлуша! Завтрак тебе явится Соколовский с клавираусцугом моей оперы. Я решительно не в состоянии ему, уплатить за работу. Устрой как-нибудь это дело, ради Бога.
Целую тебя. П. Чайковский |
Karlusha! At lunch, Sololovsky will come to you with the piano reduction of my opera [1]. I'm decidedly not in a position to pay him for the work. Settle this matter somehow, for God's sake.
Kiss you. P. Tchaikovsky |
Notes and References
- ↑ At Tchaikovsky's request, Nikolay Sokolovsky had made a manuscript copy of the arrangement for voices and piano of the opera Vakula the Smith. The Russian National Museum of Music in Moscow has a receipt dated 2/14 April 1876 showing a payment of 40 rubles to Sokolovsky for this work. Although Karl Albrecht had noted the year "1872" on this letter, the editors of П. И. Чайковский. Полное собрание сочинений, том VI (1961) dated it to 28 March/9 April 1876 on the basis of the surviving receipt, and the fact that Tchaikovsky left Moscow that day.
