1st March

Dear friend Ivan Ivanovich!

This week I have so many concerns and matters to attend to that I should find it impossible to listen to Miss Merz before the concert [1]. But I can come to the concert itself. if 9 o'clock is not too late.

Therefore, send me any sort of ticket, and I will listen to your protegee with great pleasure.

Until we meet!

Yours Tchaikovsky

Notes and References

  1. In a letter of 1/13 March 1892, Jan Seifert had invited Tchaikovsky to a concert on 6/18 March in which a certain Miss A. A. Merz (Merts) would be singing the Letter Scene from Yevgeny Onegin, and he suggested they should meet before the concert.
