6 января 1889 г[ород] Клин, с[ело] Фроловское Глубокоуважаемый Иван Александрович! Я проведу в Петербурге на пути за границу всего два дня, а именно 20-го и 21-го января. Весьма желательно было бы встретиться у Вас в один из этих двух дней с Петипа. Две первые картины я уже написал. Остальные надеюсь написать частью здесь до 19-го (дня выезда моего), частью весной. Если, Бог даст, буду жив и здоров, то надеюсь исполнить обещанное, т. е. к началу сезона (не позже 15 августа) доставить Петипа Violino répétiteur, а к ноябрю и всю партитуру, причём, разумеется, я могу высылать её в нотную контору и по частям. Весьма желательно было бы, чтобы Мар[иус] Ив[анович] Петипа к 21-му или 22-му января приготовил мне подробную программу 5-ой картины. Попрошу Вас, добрейший Иван Александрович, известить меня утром 21-го числа, в котором часу удобнее всего быть у Вас в этот день или же 22-го, именно у Вас и непременно вместе с г. балетмейстером, дабы окончательно переговорить обо всем, касающемся нашего общего дела. 6 January 1889 Town of Klin, Frolovskoye village Most respected Ivan Aleksandrovich! I shall be spending two whole days in Petersburg on my way abroad, namely the 20th and 21st of January. It would be highly desirable to meet with you and Petipa on one of these two days. I have already written the first two scenes . I hope to write part of the remainder here before the 19th (the day of my departure), and part in the spring. Provided, God wiling, that I am fit and well, then I hope to fulfil my promise, i.e. by the start of the next season (no later than 15 August) to furnish Petipa with the Violino répétiteur , and by the November the whole full score, which of course I can send piecemeal to the music office. It would be highly desirable if Marius Ivanovich Petipa could supply me with a detailed programme for the 5th scene by the 21st or 22nd of January. I ask you, most kind Ivan Aleksandrovich, to inform me on the morning of the 21st of the time which would be most convenient on that day, or on the 22nd, for me to be with you and most importantly with monsieur balletmaster, so that we might ultimately resolve everything concerning our common interests.
