Notes and References
- ↑ Tchaikovsky conducted Herman Laroche's overture Carmosine (Кармозина) at the first symphony concert of the Russian Musical Society in Saint Petersburg on 16/28 October 1893 (in a programme which also included the premiers of his own Symphony No. 6).
- ↑ This note, and the humorous attempt to write this letter in English, alludes to the fact that on 1/13 June 1893 Tchaikovsky had received an honorary doctorate of music at Cambridge University in England.
