Каменка 23 июня Милый Толичка! У нас тут стало до крайности пусто и грустно. Третьего дни уехал Модест с Колей и Ваней; отсутствие их в первое время даёт себя сильно чувствовать. Зато в большом доме появился Алёша с семейством. Наплыв нескольких новых лиц раздражает и утомляет меня. Одним словом, я бы очень не прочь отсюда уехать, но ранее начала будущей недели это невозможно, ибо сначала нужно, чтобы Алёша съездил в Чигирин и выдержал экзамен. Он едет 25-го и вернётся дня через три; затем мне не хочется уехать отсюда перед именинами, 30-е число приходится в понедельник, так что уехать можно будет только во вторник 31-го. Останусь я в Браилове не менее 3-х недель, а потом, если окажется возможность (я ужасно стеснён в деньгах), побываю, может быть, в Рыбнице, где и с тобой можем съехаться, а если нет, то возвращусь прямо в Каменку. Во всяком случае, 1-го августа буду здесь. Очень Может быть, что я перееду в дом Лазебного, так как я не могу переносить мысли, что для гувернёра из-за меня нанимают квартиру у жидов. Где тебе устроить отдельный угол, ещё не решено, но надеюсь, что будет где-нибудь. Но непременно август проведи здесь; будет весело: устроим спектакль, охота будет хоть каждый день. Из Франценсбадена известия хорошие. Саша чувствует себя очень хорошо, — девочки тоже. Модест перед отъездом ездил в Елизаветград и виделся там с Трубецким, который более влюблён, чем когда-либо. В начале осени он едет к родителям хлопотать об устройстве своих дел, и нужно надеяться, что все обойдётся благополучно и наша Таня будет княгиней. Kamenka 23 June Dear Tolichka! It's become extremely empty and miserable for us here. The day before yesterday, Modest left with Kolya and Vanya; at first their absence made itself strongly felt. Sasha is feeling very good in herself, as do the girls. Before leaving, Modest went to Yelizavetgrad and saw Trubetskoy there, who was more in love than ever.
