Monsieur!

Ceci me conviendrait parfaitement.

Mes adresses:

pour Prague

Prag, Velebín Urbanek pour remettre a P. Tschaïkowsky

pour Paris

14 Rue Richepanse

Veuillez, Monsieur, recevoir l'expression de mes meilleurs sentiments.

P. Tschaikowsky

Berlin 6 February 1888

Monsieur!

A few weeks ago Monsieur Wolff sent me your letter in which you enquired if the date of 3 May suited me, and which piece I intended to be heard by the audience at the Philharmonic Society, with whom I had the honour to be engaged. I replied to him promptly, and do not know why he forgot to send you my answer. As for the piece, it is my 3rd Suite for Orchestra that I would like to play, if you have no objection. Turning to the date, I hasten to forewarn you, Monsieur, that certain circumstances have occurred which require that I return to Russia sooner than I had thought. Could you not, Monsieur, allow me to come around 20 March, and no later than the 1st of April? That would suit me perfectly. I must absolutely leave for my homeland during the first days of April. Please, Monsieur, let me know as soon as possible: 1) Whether you can allow me to come between 20 March and 1 April. 2) Whether you have any objection to my selection of the 3rd Suite for Orchestra. In three days I leave for Leipzig, where I will only be staying for 2 days, and then on to Prague where I am staying between 13 and 20 February. On 22 or 23 February I shall be in Paris.

My addresses:

For Prague

Prag, Velebín Urbanek for forwarding to P. Tchaikovsky

For Paris

14 Rue Richepanse

Please, Monsieur, accept my best regards.

P. Tchaikovsky

P.S. I am replying in French because I write very poorly in German.
