Moscow 4 September 1888 Modya! I returned from Kamenka three days ago; I'm just on my way to Frolovskoye. Everything is fine at Kamenka, but the news from Paris is appalling [1]. I didn't do much there, and the whole time I was either visiting or receiving guests. Of course, they were all people I was very fond of, and it was generally pleasant. In all probability Vera will not recover. This is a horrible thought, and infinitely sad. I'll see you in a week or thereabouts. I kiss you. P. Tchaikovsky |
