Spasskoie 15/27 September 1893 Mon cher Sigismond! Peut-être m'accusez Vous déjà d'avoir oublié de Vous écrire au commencement de notre Septembre, comme cela été convenu, pour Vous faire part des décisions de la Direction de la Société Musicale Russe et de la date du concert où j'aurais le plaisir et l'honneur de conduire Votre suite. Mais je n'ai pu Vous écrire plutôt, car le comité de la dite Société n'a pu se rassembler que récemment et immédiatement après je suis parti pour la province. Enfin, arrivé chez mon frère à la campagne, où je compte rester quelque temps, je m'empresse de Vous donner de mes nouvelles. Depuis que j'eu le plaisir de Vous voir, ou plutôt le chagrin de Vous quitter, — j'ai été à Paris, en Tyrol (chez la Menter), en petite Russie (chez mon frère cadet), chez moi, puis à Hamburg pour assister à une représentation de mon dernier opéra, puis à Pétersbourg. Je me porte très bien, suis content d'avoir terminé ma nouvelle symphonie et maintenant que la belle saison est commencée, vont commencer aussi mes pérégrinations, car j'aurai à conduire des concerts à Pétersbourg, à Moscou, à Odessa, etc. Mais arrivons au principal. Votre Suite sera exécutée sous ma direction le 15/27 Janvier 1894. J'espère que selon Votre promesse Vous viendrez avec Maman et je me réjouis de l'agréable perspective de Vous revoir. Maintenant veuillez: 1) m'envoyer de suite la partition de la Suite (adressez Moscou P. I. Jurgenson pour P. Tschai[kovsky]), 2) écrivez moi si Vous viendrez. Pour les parties d'orchestre, cela ne presse pas, Vous pourrez les apporter avec Vous. Veuillez adresser Votre lettre également à Mr P. I. Spasskoye 15/27 September 1893 My dear Sigismond! Perhaps you are already angry with me for having forgotten to write at the beginning of our September as arranged, to inform you of the decisions of the Directors of the Russian Musical Society and the date of the concert where I shall have the pleasure and honour to conduct your suite. But I could not write to you then because the committee of the said Society has only recently been able to meet, and immediately afterwards I left for the provinces. Finally on arriving at my brother's in the country, where I intend to remain for some time, I am hastening to give you my news. Since I had the pleasure of seeing your, or rather the sorrow of leaving you, I have been to Paris, in the Tyrol (with Menter), in Little Russia (with my younger brother), then to Hamburg to attend a production of my latest opera, and then to Petersburg. I am very well, happy to have completed my new symphony, and now that the summer season has started, my travels will also begin, because I have to conduct concerts in Petersburg, Moscow, Odessa, etc. But to come to the point.
