Maydanovo
11th June

After you left I stayed in Moscow for another three days [1]. We missed you very much, especially on the first day. On the day you left we had dinner at a French restaurant at the exhibition [2], which was disgusting. That evening I watched the "Fantasia" show in the garden, and had dinner with friends at the conservatory. Anatoly came the next day, and I spent the evening with him at the exhibition. On Whit Sunday I was at Mass in the Cathedral of the Assumption. The view of the Kremlin square dotted with people holding flowers in both hands was surprisingly nice, and I'm sorry that you couldn't have enjoyed this scene. I forgot to mention that before this I was with Modest and Sanya in the said Cathedral of the Assumption for vespers. The service was so beautiful that even the heretic Sanya was moved to tears. On Whit Monday we went to the station with Modest, and later dined with the old man Konshin [3]. Sanya was angry that Konshin called him "young man" instead of "count". The next day I left. Sanya had to catch the express train. Anatoly is passing through today, and I'm going to meet him at the station.

Send me a short letter. Tomorrow I'm back to work.

Tight hugs for your father [4], Yury and Nata, and also a deep bow to Martha Fominichna [5].

I hug you tightly.

Yours, P. Tchaikovsky

If you feel like writing then it would make me awfully happy.
