Вербовка 29 июля Милый друг!
M[adamois]elle Переслени передаст тебе мои рукописи. Ты получишь немало матерьяла для своих гравёров. Я посылаю тебе:
Кроме того, в скором времени доставлю тебе 3 пиэсы для скрипки, которые теперь у меня выпросил для переписки один здешний любитель. Вот какой гонорар я желал бы получить за все это:
или, круглым числом, 900 р[ублей], но ввиду того, что я сразу написал так много, я все это ус[ту]паю тебе за 800 р[ублей]. Теперь, друг мой, я бы попросил тебя составить счёт того, что я тебе должен, и того, что ты мне должен, включив сюда и гонорар за оперу и за скрипичный концерт. Согласен ли ты, чтобы оперой я уплатил тебе долг в 500 р[ублей], сделанный именно ввиду оперы? За скрипичный конц[ерт] я бы желал рублей 50. Пожалуйста, голубчик, разъясни и определи состояние наших счётов, — это для меня весьма нужно. Если по окончательном расчёте окажется, что за тобой более или менее круглая цифра, то мне не нужно, чтоб ты платил мне все разом, — а понемножку. Впрочем, как хочешь. Если не ошибаюсь, то Ант[онине] Ив[ановне] ты выплачивал за меня по 100 р[ублей] 1) 15 янв[аря], 2) 15 февр[аля], 3) 15 марта, 4) 15 адр[еля], 5) 15 июня, 6) 15 июля, итого 600 р[ублей]. Из них 200 ты получил из Консерв[атории], 100 я тебе выдал сам в июне и 100 ты получил теперь из суммы, доставленной Анатолием: следовательно, из 600 400 я уже уплатил. Я получил корректуру «Онегина» и буду с ней долго возиться: ошибок довольно, больше по моей вине, но также и по вине корректора. Но не сердись на бедного Кашкина; ему в самом деле не до корректур. Furthermore, I'll shortly be sending you 3 pieces for violin, which I've just written at the request of an amateur local correspondent. Here are the fees I should like to receive for all this:
or, to the nearest round number, 900 rubles, but in view of the fact that I've written so much at once, I'll let you have all this for 800 rubles. Now, my friend, I would ask you to compile an account of what I owe you, and what you owe me, inclusive of the fees for the opera and for the violin concerto. Would you agree that, bearing the opera in mind, I've paid you my debt of 500 rubles? I should like 50 rubles for the violin concerto. Please, golubchik, ascertain and clarify the state of our accounts — this is very important to me. If according to the final calculations you end up with a more or less round figure, then I don't need you to pay me everything at once — but little by little. Anyway, as you wish. If I'm not mistaken, then you've paid Antonina Ivanovna 100 rubles on my behalf on: 1) 15 January, 2) 15 February, 3) 15 March, 4) 15 April, 5) 15 June, 6) 15 July, making 600 rubles in total. You have received 200 of this from the Conservatory, 100 that I gave you myself in June, and you've now received 100 from the amount delivered by Anatoly; therefore, I have already paid 400 out of the 600. I've received the proofs of "Onegin", and will be tinkering with them for some time; there are a fair number of mistakes, the majority of which are my fault, but also that of the proofreader.
