Sister of the violinist Iosif Kotek, born Yuliya Iosifovna Kotek (Юлия Иосифовна Котек); known after her marriage as Yuliya Iosifovna Chistyakova-Mikhalevskaya (Юлия Иосифовна Чистякова-Михалевская).
Tchaikovsky's correspondence with her began with her during her brother's final illness in 1885, and continued over the next five years.
