Leipzig, 26 January Dear and kind Sir!
Your letter arrived in Hamburg a few hours after my departure from Berlin. It reached Berlin when I was no longer there, and subsequently it followed me to Magdeburg without ever managing to catch up with me. Finally, yesterday evening I received it and I sent off a telegram at once. On the 22nd — at the latest on the morning of the 23rd — I shall be in Paris. If in the meanwhile you have anything to tell me regarding the programme, could you please take into account the following dates: I am staying in Leipzig until 2 February; I shall be staying in Berlin from 2 to 9 February; I shall spend the 10th and 11th in Leipzig; and from 12 up to and including 20 February I shall be in Prague. In Leipzig my address is Hotel Hauffe; in Berlin it is Hotel St Petersburg; and in Prague it is: to Mr Velebin Urbanek, to be forwarded to P. T. I am giving you all these details in order to avoid delays in my replies in case you should find it necessary to write to me. As regards the choice of days and the programme, I acquiesce in advance in everything that you decide upon [2]. I rejoice at the thought that in a month's time I shall be in Paris and that I shall have the pleasure of seeing you there. Yours ever, P. Tchaikovsky |
